Learning about Japanese culture
みなさん、こんにちは!
My first week at the Akashi College has flown by!! I have done so many things and experienced many new things too.
During my first day, I met with some Malaysian students who visited Akashi College for that afternoon. I joined them for a campus tour, which was good as I had no idea where anything was! After the campus tour the students at Akashi College taught us how to make some origami. It was very difficult, but also super fun! I am keen to learn how to make different things with origami.
Another fun thing I did this week was to go watch traditional Japanese fencing, Kendo! I had never heard about Kendo before so it was very interesting to see what it was like. It looks like fun and like a lot of work! I think I would be too scared to try it😆 !
I have also been eating lots of Japanese food! I have tried some udon noodles, sushi and even had a Japanese bento at a cafe.
I have also been helping out at the college. Some of you have probably seen me during your English conversation classes! I have been joining different groups and helping them practice their rejoinders😉. Another thing I have enjoyed doing is talking to different students (and staff!) at the Global Terrace. So if you have free time next week, please come and say hello if you see me there!
This weekend I will go to Kobe and do some sightseeing. I am excited and will post some pictures from my trip!
